Positive Mental Attitude

Positive Mental Attitude

7 Steps to Becoming a Positive Person

Ok, so very often, I come across people or person(s), who I find, are capable of far more than they believe possible. Now I am of the belief that anybody can do anything they wish, but, this takes a lot of dedication, perseverance and self belief, both physically and mentally in order to do, whatever it is they want to achieve.

A lot of the time, it is not the physical barriers, but the mental barriers that hold them back.

Now being able to turn a negative mentality, into a positive mentality, doesn’t happen overnight, because there may be a root cause, of that person having a negative mentality on life.

It may be that, it takes more than a personal trainer, or a qualified professional (life coach etc) to cure this problem.

However, i believe there are small steps that everyone can take to change negativity, into positivity, whether it is health related or not.

Here are 7 small steps we can all take, to lead a more positive life.

Set yourself a target.

Whether it be to travel to somewhere you’ve never been before, or an activity you’ve never done before.

No matter how big or small, ambitious, or careful it is, GO FOR IT.

If you don’t you’ll always look back, and regret not doing it, when you had the chance

Visual reminder

Write down your target/ambition multiple times, and place it, in places where you will see it daily. This will be a constant reminder of it, so you’ll not have the opportunity to back out

Tell as many people as possible

The more people that know, the more support you’ll have around you.

And the more people that know, the less the chance of you not following through with the task in hand!

Take the necessary steps to help you to achieve your goal

For example, you may have chosen learn to abseil, or to complete a 10k/half marathon/marathon. With that in mind, the chance is, that you will need specialist help to achieve your goal.

This will do 2 things for you,

it will be another part of your support network, and it will be someone else to help, to motivate you to achieve your goal

Turn negativity into positivity

Chances are that when you begin to tell people that you’ve set yourself a goal (whatever it may be), you will probably get asked the question “why?”

To turn this from a negative question into a positive response, you could always reply with the statement “why not?”

Don’t listen to the doubters

You’ll more than likely, at some stage, have people say to you “you’ll never do it” or “you’re not good enough to do that”

The chances are that they only trying to be negative, because they are either jealous because you’re doing something positive, or because they have not had the courage to do it themselves.

Think of the end result

Yes, the road won’t be easy.

But once you’ve achieved your target/ambition, it may well, change the way people look/respond to you

It will make people respect you as a person, and it may mean that you’ll end up inspiring them, or they will be inspired by you

At the end of your journey, i can guarantee you that you’ll start to feel more positive about yourself, and about life.

You will have inspired people, and it may mean you end up, writing a further list of ambitions/goals for the future!
